The Food And Beverage Convention: Niagara 2017

The Agri-Food Management Institute and Innovate Niagara are partnering with a number of public and private agencies to bring together 400 food and beverage industry members looking to scale up and grow their businesses.

The Food and Beverage Convention: Niagara 2017 will take place at Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls on March 3rd.

With a focus on growth and scaling up food and beverage businesses, Industry experts will speak on business management topics that include: strategic planning, growing towards export, streamlining costs when scaling up. Sessions on Consumer Trends and Funding Your Growth will also provide helpful resources for early stage food and beverage entrepreneurs. Panel discussions will bring together cross-sections of industry experts to expand on the theme of the convention, and to talk about food safety regulations for small- to medium-sized businesses.

Conference Highlights:

March 2nd, 2017

  • Bus tour of innovative food and beverage resources across the region
  • A pre-conference seminar aimed at new business owners and managers who want to learn about food safety regulations and the basics of how to set up a strong program.
  • Evening cocktail reception at the Marriot on the Falls to facilitate networking.

March 3rd, 2017

  • Keynote speaker John F.T. Scott, a food industry expert with decades of experience in the industry, including 22 years at the head of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers, will deliver a keynote presentation about ‘How to Prepare Your Business for Success.’
  • Concurrent breakout sessions all based around scaling up using sustainable business practices.
  • Mentorship Table Talk, at which participants can sign up to chat with experts about their challenges in logistics, marketing, financing, exporting and other business-related topics.
  • Tradeshow showcase of products from Ontario food and input supply companies, as well as business development resources.
  • Dana McCauley, Executive Director of Food Starter will help wrap up the day with a plenary talk on how new entrants and newly established businesses can really grow using trends and niche markets to get established.
