On behalf of the Board and Staff of the Economic Developers Council of Ontario, I wish to pass along our best wishes for a safe, happy, healthy holiday season.
This past year has been nothing short of extraordinary. Our members have been asked to make tremendous sacrifice for the good of their communities; sacrifices which not only affected their professional work, but their personal lives as we navigated the evolving pandemic threat. It has all been a heavy burden.
But through it all, I have been witness to so many acts of kindness, of generosity, of the human spirit of perseverance that lets me know we are on the right path. EDCO members can be proud of the fact that they are working with full conviction to get Ontario on the right track, to not only see us through these awful times, but to set our communities and organizations up for future prosperity as the tides shift on this fight against the pandemic, and life tries to return to some semblance of normalcy in 2021.
Being in this position as your EDCO President has given me a bird’s eye view to watch new partnerships form, collaboration to increase exponentially, and for innovation to thrive as we look for ways to get through all of this; I couldn’t be happier with the results, made even more special when they’re set against the global tragedy that has preceded it.
During these times of reflection, I want you to know how proud I am – and how proud you should all be – at the work done all over this province to keep businesses open, government functioning and the world turning as best possible in 2020. Words truly do not do it justice.
All the best for a prosperous 2021, and a fun-filled, stress-free and joyous Happy Holidays on behalf of the Board and Staff of EDCO.
Gord Knowles, President
